North East Lincolnshire Council’s Changeworks apprenticeship grant scheme may be able to help.

To encourage local businesses to take on a young apprentice, a grant scheme was launched by the Change programme in September 2011 to help ease the financial commitment required of the employer.

The scheme offers small to medium sized businesses that can create a new apprenticeship, a grant of £2,500 which can be used to subsidise a new apprentices’ pay. The programme has been specifically developed to increase the number of apprentice opportunities for unemployed 16 to 18 year olds and to encourage new take up from local businesses.

Apprenticeships are a great way for young people to start their career. They offer individuals an opportunity to learn valuable skills, gain qualifications and earn a wage at the same time.
Employers can benefit by recruiting an enthusiastic individual who is willing to learn, increase their bottom line and meet future business requirements by training and developing a skilled workforce for the future.

North East Lincolnshire Council delivers a programme of services, through the Change programme, which aims to support businesses to create new employment opportunities and also helps unemployed residents access work.
