THE High Wires are to be removed from their site at the Young People's Centre on Trinity Road, Cleethorpes next week and moved into secure storage until a suitable new location can be secured for them.
Work will begin on Monday, January 30, and will be completed by the afternoon of Thursday, February 2. Trin Young People's Centre will be closed and parking in the area will be restricted on Wednesday, February 1, while a crane is to be used to remove the larger pieces of equipment.
A number of potential new locations have been considered but North East Lincolnshire Council is giving any other interested, private, community or voluntary organisations a final opportunity to make an official expression of interest. Please send an email to admin.yps@nelincs.gov.uk containing brief details of your organisation, the proposed location and a lead contact name by 5.00 pm on February 9, 2012. Those selected will then be invited to submit a full proposal to the council.
Councillor Ian Lindley, portfolio holder people and communities said, "I am really pleased to say that the relocation of the high wires is now progressing very quickly. I am aware that this is a significant concern for many people and I expect to find a swift and satisfactory solution to the issue."
Steve Kay, head of young people's support service said, "There has been a lot of work happening behind the scenes and I am delighted that young people and residents in the area are now able to see that the project is progressing. We are taking into account local residents previous concerns and youth workers at the centre have been discussing with local young people about any ideas they may have about how we could best utilise the remaining space."
