This summer North East Lincolnshire schools maintained the good progress made last year with Department for Education performance tables showing achievement for 5 GCSE passes at A*-C grades as 82.6 percent up by 3.6 percent from the previous year. The national figure remains below the local figure at 80.1 percent.

The picture for 5 or more GCSE passes at A*-C, including English and mathematics has remained at last years level of 54.2 percent however nationally this has increased by 3.1 percent to 58.3 percent.

Councillor Ian Lindley, portfolio holder people and communities said, "There is a mix of performance across schools and I am disappointed that two schools are now below the national threshold of 35 percent of pupils achieving 5 GCSE passes at A*-C, including English and mathematics.

“I am pleased that North East Lincolnshire has maintained its performance from last year although it is clear that there is more work to be done. As a council we have undertaken a strategic partnership with Serco who have a good track record of working with schools and academies to improve overall performance. I am confident that they will provide the necessary challenge and support to schools to ensure every child meets their aspirations.”
