Cycling event on Sunday, June 17.
Saddle-up and take part in the Big Bike Bonanza in Cleethorpes next Sunday (June 17).
This free event, organised by Cycle Lincs and supported by the council and its partner Balfour Beatty, will take you on a route from the Kingsway to the Discovery Centre. And there are plenty of things to see and do along the way from 10am to 6pm.
Attractions along the route include:
Cycle cinema - pedal to keep the show going, various films throughout the day.
Cycle smoothie and bike surgery - stop and re-fuel with a pedal powered smoothie machine or get advice about your cycle at the bike surgery.
Cycle powered Scalextric.
Unicycle and odd bike work shop - slow bike race and other crazy capers with the Earthbound Misfits.
BMX demo.
Pop-up nature lab - nature inspired activities.
Councillor Peter Wheatley, portfolio holder for regeneration and environment, said: "Even if you don't have your own bike you can still take part as there are bikes to hire for the day. We have worked 'tyre'-lessly to make this event a great day for all the family to enjoy."
The Big Bike Bonanza also coincides with the World Music weekend with some of the programme taking place on the cycle route.
There will be live music from 12 noon to 3pm on the Kingsway from Celtara and musical instrument making with Artlandish from 11am to 1pm at the Discovery Centre. The centre will also host live music from Trio El Mundo from 12 noon to 3pm.
In addition to Sunday’s celebrations a ‘Ride Easy’ cycling event will take place on Saturday, June 16 at Weelsby Woods. A five-mile and eight-mile route will take place at 10am following cycle paths and cycle lanes in and around the park. Meet at 9.30am. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult and everyone is responsible for their own safety. The ride guide will offer advice if requested and lots of encouragement!
