Immingham Centre and School closures

Heavy rain causes flooding

HEAVY rain storms today (Thursday) have created localised flooding issues in the area. The intensity of the downpours mean that the local surface water drainage systems have been overwhelmed. As the storms pass the drainage systems will be able reduce flood levels and make roads passable.

Rain is expected to continue over the next 24 hours and the council is monitoring the situation carefully and responding to incidents as they occur.

Affected residents are advised to report any issues or concerns to the council on (01472) 313131, as well as taking precautionary measures such as removing valuable items to a higher level.

Immingham Resource Centre, Immingham Library and Canon Peter Hall CE Primary School were forced to close today as a result of flooding. The Immingham Resource Centre centre will remain closed until further notice.

The Immingham Library will also remain closed until further notice. Any enquiries regarding the library should be directed to the Grimsby Central Library on (01472) 323600.

The Canon Peter Hall CE Primary School was also forced to close today and will be closed tomorrow, Friday 29th July 2012 too. Parents and students have been informed of the closure.

Allerton Primary and Eastfield Primary schools will also be closed tomorrow.

The council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
