AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS FOR YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2012
NOTICE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS
Notice is given in accordance with the Audit Commission Act 1998 (the Act) and the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2011 that any persons interested may inspect the accounts of North East Lincolnshire Council for the year ended 31 March 2012 and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them and to make copies of all or any part of the accounts and those other documents.
The accounts and the related documents will be available for inspection at the Civic Offices, Knoll Street, Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, DN35 8LN during normal office hours (9am to 5pm Monday to Friday inclusive) for the period Tuesday, 17th July to Monday, 13th August, 2012. Initial applications for inspection should be made to Robert Woollatt, Head of Corporate Finance, Civic Offices, Knoll Street, Cleethorpes, DN35 8LN, telephone (01472) 323886.
Notice is also given that from Tuesday, 14th August 2012 at 10am until the completion of the audit, the District Auditor, at the request of any local government elector in North East Lincolnshire, shall give the elector (or any representative of his) an opportunity to question him about the accounts. The elector may make objections on any matter on which the District Auditor could take action under the Act or could make a report in the public interest under Section 8 of the Act. This would include any unlawful item of account, failure to bring a sum into account which should have been included and was not sanctioned by the Secretary of State, or a loss or deficiency caused by wilful misconduct.
Questions may be received by the District Auditor, Audit Commission, 3 Leeds City Office Park, Leeds, LS11 5BD. No objection may be made unless the District Auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objection and of the grounds on which it is to be made and a copy of such written notice of objection has also been sent to the Council at the same time.
