Torch route affects waste and recycling collections

Torch relay on Wednesday, June 27 to affect a small number of refuse collections

RESIDENTS living in Bargate, Scartho Road and Louth Road are being asked to place their waste and recycling containers out for collection later than usual on Wednesday, June 27.

The Olympic torch relay will pass through Grimsby on this day and due to the timings of the event, a small number of recycling and waste collections will be affected.

Letters are being sent to a number householders requesting that they present their containers at 7.30am, or soon after the procession has passed.

Councillor Peter Wheatley, portfolio holder for regeneration and environment, said: “People will be able to enjoy this momentous occasion right outside their doorstep and we hope that this small change in timings won’t inconvenience residents. It is important that we avoid any unnecessary congestion during the relay.”

Residents are reminded to present their bins and boxes by 7am for future scheduled collections.
