Notice of Community Governance Review - Great Coates Village Council

Notice is hereby given that North East Lincolnshire Council ("the council") has received a valid petition, seeking a review of the Great Coates Village Council.

The petition requests that: "North East Lincolnshire Council carry out a Community Governance Review for the dissolution of the Great Coates Village Council as their recent decision to ignore the result of the referendum carried out on the February 2 2012 shows their complete indifference to the wishes of the village electorate and therefore they are not representative or accountable to the village members".

In carrying out the review, the council must have regard to the need to secure that community governance within the Great Coates area:
- reflects the needs and identities of the community in that area, and
- is effective and convenient
The council therefore seeks representations from electors in the Great Coates Village area.

Representations should be submitted in writing to:
Strategic Director Governance and Transformation, Municipal Offices, Town Hall Square Grimsby. DN31 1HU
Or by email to paul.windley@nelincs.gov.uk

The closing date for receipt of representations is the November 2 2012

The council's Scrutiny Panel for Policy, Performance and Resources will conduct the review in public and notice of the Panel's meetings will be given in due course.

R.G. Walsh, strategic director governance and transformation
