All 13 local Children’s Centres to take part in the Cleethorpes Carnival
Costumes and float displays now in production
ALL 13 of North East Lincolnshire Council's Children's Centres are to take part in this year's exciting Cleethorpes Carnival.
This colourful event takes place next Saturday, July 26, and youngsters from across the borough have been preparing themselves for the fun - creating intricate displays and fancy dress costumes for the carnival float.
"Beside the sea" is the theme for this year’s float, so fish, crabs and octopuses feature in this year's artwork.
On the morning of the carnival the float will receive its final touches at Sydney Park between 9am and 1pm before departing to begin its journey along the parade.
Further to providing the children with an opportunity to get involved in this important community event, the youngsters' participation aims to raise awareness of the range of services and activities available at each of our local Children’s Centres.
With the arrival of the fourteenth centre in Humberston and New Waltham due sometime next year, North East Lincolnshire is close to reaching the goal of providing such services in every community.
Children’s Centres provide a hub through which local people can access day care, health advisors, Connexions, post natal support, sexual health clinics and educational courses. Each centre works closely with local people to ensure that services reflect the different needs of individual communities.
For more information about the services on offer at your local children’s centre feel free to ask at reception or contact the Family Information Service on (01472) 323250.
Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for Children’s Services, said: “Children’s Centres provide us with a wonderful way to bring the services that communities need directly to their doorstep, especially for children under five years of age and their families. I’m amazed by the local support all of our existing Children’s Centres have enjoyed. It really has been a team effort from the start.
"Now, with the majority of centres up and running, it’s clear to see the positive impact they are having on their individual communities. I’m looking forward to seeing the results of all the children’s hard work and hope that the carnival presents a day of fun for all who attend.”
