New Children’s Centre for Highgate, Cleethorpes
Centre will provide local families with a variety of support services
As part of North East Lincolnshire Council’s dedication to providing the best support for 100% of children under five years and their families, several new Children’s Centres are opening in the borough this year. Among these is Highgate Children’s Centre, which is situated at Thrunscoe Junior School on Trinity Road in Cleethorpes.
Highgate Children’s Centre will provide local families with a variety of support services, ranging from top quality childcare to healthcare and links to Jobcentre Plus. It will become a central hub where parents and carers can socialise, get advice and learn alongside their children. A number of courses can be accessed through local Children’s Centres including subjects as diverse as swimming, cookery, computing and beauty.
Highgate will be the third centre to be based in the area and will follow in the footsteps of the existing successful Children’s Centres, i.e. Cleethorpes Children’s Centre, situated at Reynolds Schools, and Central Children Centre that has an outreach centre at Colin Avenue, Old Clee. A team of dedicated, enthusiastic and skilled staff has already been brought together and is working alongside the local community to ensure that the Centre reaches its potential.
Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for Children’s Services, said: “Children’s Centres have already proved themselves to be a valuable resource in giving children the best start in life. This new Children’s Centre at Highgate will ensure that every family with a child under five years, that lives in Cleethorpes can receive the best and most appropriate services.”
