Senior citizens invited to have their say on older people's website
Consultation process aims to improve online services
WEB-SAVVY senior citizens are being given a chance to shape the next stage of a website specifically tailored to their needs and support.
The Older People In North East Lincolnshire website is going through a consultation process to improve the services it offers online.
The website, run by North East Lincolnshire Council in partnership with the Care Trust Plus, Age Concern, the Alzheimer's Society and Help The Aged, provides useful information and advice on a range of opportunities and surgery times across the region.
As part of the consultation, people can log on to the website and fill in a questionnaire which will help the site to be developed further.
The new-look website could contain on-line interactive services, links to other relevant groups and agencies, and, most importantly, those things older people wish to see.
The process also includes changing the layout and name of the site.
Councillor Peter Mills, older people’s champion at the council, said: “I would encourage people to take part and shape the future of this website.”
Julie Ogley, the council's executive director for community care, said: "This site is already well-used by people looking to access services and facilities online. “Older people often have the technical and computer skills that put others to shame - so we would urge them to log on and help this website become the absolute online authority for senior citizens across the borough."
The website can be accessed at www.olderpeopleinnortheastlincs.co.uk . Simply scroll down on the page and click on the link marked Older People's Web Site Phase II. Then follow the steps to fill in the consultation questionnaire.
