Extended opening hours at Grant Thorold Library
Now open late four evenings and on Sundays
Grant Thorold Library users will be able to take advantage of extended opening hours from Tuesday, July 1.
Funding for the extra 10 hours per week has been provided by North East Lincolnshire Council in response to a survey of library users last year.
One of the key points raised by customers was a desire for longer opening hours, with 46 per cent of respondents saying they would like the library to open on Sundays.
Now open late four evenings a week and open on Sundays, there is even more opportunity for users to enjoy the free services on offer at the library.
From July 1 the new opening hours will be:
- Monday 10am – 7pm
- Tuesday 10am – 7pm
- Wednesday 10am – 7pm
- Thursday 10am – 7pm
- Friday 10am – 5.30pm
- Saturday 10am – 1pm
- Sunday 10am – 1pm
Councillor Steve Hocknell, portfolio holder for culture, leisure and healthier communities, said: “I hope the extended hours will encourage as many people as possible to take advantage of the library facilities.
“The council is working hard to improve libraries to make them as relevant and accessible as possible.
“We have listened to the residents and users of Grant Thorald Library and these new hours will ensure that the service will be more convenient for visitors.”
Library membership is free and is open to everyone. Membership gives users access to a wide range of books and other materials including use of the library computers and an online family history research resource. For a small charge users can also borrow from an extensive range of audio and visual services.
North East Lincolnshire’s 10 libraries and mobile library offer something for everyone in the area to help with work, leisure and study.
