Local Government and Rating Act 1997 - Formal review of Immingham Town Council

In accordance with Section 10 of the Local Government and Rating Act 1997 ("the Act"), notice is hereby given that North East Lincolnshire Council is conducting a formal review of the Immingham Town Council in accordance with the provisions of the Act. A review under Section 10 of the Act review must have regard to:-

  • the need to reflect the identities and interests of local communities
  • securing effective and efficient local government and
  • the relevant electoral arrangements

The review will focus on three specific areas:-

  1. Value for money provided by Immingham Town Council
  2. The electoral arrangements (namely the impact of any alteration to the Town Council on the current electoral arrangements in the affected area)
  3. The impact of any changes on the services currently provided by Immingham Town Council

A review carried out under the Act can recommend the creation, alteration or abolition of Town/Parish Councils and their boundaries.

The review will consider the impact of any changes on the neighbouring parish councils of Habrough and Stallingborough.

During the period 17th July 2006 to 11th September 2006, North East Lincolnshire Council will be seeking your views so that it can decide what, if any, recommendations to make to the Secretary of State. All views submitted will be available for public inspection.

You can send your views, in writing, to the Deputy Director Law & Democratic Services, Municipal Offices, Town Hall Square, Grimsby, DN31 1HU or by customerrequests@nelincs.gov.uk.

What happens after we have your views?

Your views are important. They will help North East Lincolnshire Council to decide whether or not to make any draft recommendations (which then must be publicised and any further representations taken into account).

Any final recommendations require Government approval.
