Scartho Road and Cleethorpes Cemeteries
Whilst there are several cemeteries within the county of North East Lincolnshire only two are managed by the Local Authority:
Scartho Road Cemetery
Scartho Road, Grimsby, DN33 2AL
First opened its gates in 1889 and extends to 67 acres. During 2011-12 there were 126 interments and 117 burials of cremated remains.
Cleethorpes Cemetery
Beacon Avenue, Cleethorpes, DN35 8EQ
Beacon Avenue, opened its gates in 1877, is smaller in size covering approximately 31 acres and the number of interments during 2011-12 reflects this with 69 interments and 42 burials of cremated remains taking place.
Both cemeteries have a chapel that may be used by the bereaved as part of the funeral service.
The Grimsby Cemeteries and Crematorium Office has the statutory registers and plans for the two cemeteries in North East Lincolnshire that the Council is responsible for (Pre 1970 for Scartho Road Cemetery are held in Archives at Grimsby Municipal Offices).
