Central Children’s Centre is situated on Edward Street (opposite Edward Heneage School), off Sixhills Street and serves the community around Heneage and Old Clee. There is an outreach facility at Old Clee Children’s Centre, Colin Avenue, Grimsby (next to Old Clee School). We provide a one-stop shop for families with children 0-5 years, and help with older siblings is provided.

We have full timetables for family activities and training. Times and events change on a regular basis so please contact the Centre direct – either by telephone on 01472 326830, email cccentral@nelincs.gov.uk, or just pop in.

The range of activities on offer include Tea and Toast and Citizens Advice Bureau drop-ins, baby yoga and baby massage, and a variety of stay and play sessions where children and carers can meet and make new friends. All the sessions are structured to help your child’s development and include speech and language, social skills, learning and sharing. We have sessions that include food and fun, promoting healthy eating and learning textures of food. Advice and support is always readily available if required.

Antenatal sessions are held regularly at both Centres, appointments are booked with your midwife.

We have weekly support groups for breast-feeding mums and new parents to help with any of your concerns and to share new experiences.

Both sites have a Sunflower Library – all you need to do is register with the receptionist and you can take books out at your leisure.

Special events are held annually at Central Children’s Centre. During December 2011 the Centre was turned into the ‘Polar Express Experience’, and at Easter 2011 the Centre turned into Oz, with the ‘Wizard of Oz Experience!’ These are special experiences for children to enjoy some magic in their lives within their community.

There is an extensive training programme with a wide variety of courses at both Centres. Courses include;
• Adult literacy and adult numeracy (which are vital in the workplace and help you support your children with their homework!)
• Interpersonal skills
• Budgeting skills
• Drugs awareness
• Mental health awareness
• Family Nurturing Programme (strategies to help support yourself and your children as a parent/carer)
• Child psychology
• Employability and personal development
• Paediatric First Aid
• Food hygiene
• Art
• Customer services and administration
• HENRY course (Health Exercise and Nutrition in the Really Young), which is a fabulous to help you adopt a healthier family lifestyle – light-hearted but with a serious purpose.

All courses are accredited, so you have the opportunity to enhance your CV and also give you a sense of achievement.

A training co-ordinator can be available to help you set some learning goals and begin your learning journey. These one to one sessins help you gocus on what you would like to do as a future career or how to improve your personal development.

Please remember, everyone is very welcome into the Centre and if you have any issues or concerns we are here to help, some of our parents call us the ‘4th emergency service’.

**PLEASE NOTE CAR PARKING IS NOT AVAILABLE AT CENTRAL CHILDREN’S CENTRE BECAUSE OF THE BUILDING WORK AT EDWARD HENEAGE SCHOOL**
