Family Action Support Team (FAST)


We are a specialist service for families with children with attention and behavioural difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other complex needs, aged 3-17 years.

Who are we?

The Family Action Support Team (FAST) are a group of specialist health professionals, who have qualifications and experience in helping children, young people and families.

The specialist practitioners are Registered Nurses and Registered Health Visitors with additional specialist post graduate qualifications in ASC, ADHD and training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Systemic Family Therapy. The specialist practitioners have a wide experience of working within the Health Service and extensive work experience in Primary Care working with families with children with additional needs. The Family Support Workers have qualifications in child development and child care with extended training in ADHD, ASC, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Community Mental Health and have wide experience of working with children and families in different settings. Administration staff may be your first point of contact with the service and provide vital and valuable support to all team members.

Working with Other Organisations:

We also work in partnership with other agencies such as Health Visitors, School Nurses, Schools and other Children's Services, where appropriate.

Confidentiality and Information Sharing:

The service we offer is confidential. This means that we will not normally pass on any information about you to anyone without your permission. Sometimes it is helpful for us to talk with other professionals outside of the service, but we will seek your permission first before this happens. However, if we have concerns about the safety of a child or young person we are obliged by law to involve other professionals. Where possible these concerns would be discussed with you first.
