The Teenage Pregnancy Prevention team takes the lead and works in partnership with a wide range of agencies and disciplines to address high rates of teenage conceptions and to support teenage parents and their children to achieve the best possible outcomes.
The team were responsible for relaunching and coordinating Choices Young Peoples Contraception, Sexual Health and Advice Service. The Coordinator also developed the C Card scheme to increase access to condoms throughout N E Lincolnshire. This was handed over to Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust in March 2010 as part of the new Young Peoples CASH Service they provide. The team supports this through partnership working and promotional events.
The team develops, coordinates and delivers programmes of MASH (Multi Agency Sexual Health) Sex and Relationships Education in schools, colleges, youth centres and training providers. MASH+ is also delivered to more vulnerable young people along with Single Gender Work.
Raising Aspirations underpins all of the work the team undertakes and we have created a wealth of resources, initiatives and training for young people, their families and professionals to support them to reach their full potential.
The team has also developed/commissioned and delivered training to support workforce development including Levels 1 and 2 Sexual Health, Condom Management, Pregnancy Testing, Boys Own and Here Come the Girls (Single Gender Work), Facilitation Skills, Raising Aspirations and Inspiring Change.
Much of this will be included in the Common Induction Framework for Children's Services. Other agencies and voluntary sector staff also access this training and we now have a much wider bank of staff with increased knowledge, skills and confidence to address issues relating to sexual health and teenage pregnancy prevention when working with young people and their families.
