Application Form Top Tips from 2009 Graduates:
• Research (website) Job – for the application and interview
• Do not lie!
• Enthusiasm
• Read Job Profile, apply transferable skills
• Identify strengths and weaknesses
• Be yourself, express yourself honestly
• Spend lots of time on the application form
• Get someone to proof read/spell check your application
• Refer to key words in the Job Profile
• Ring the available contacts to ask about background knowledge, etc

• Don’t be nervous

• Think before answering in an interview – clarify if needed and know what job you are applying for
• Research the Council/Department
• Prepare sensible questions for interviewers (have something to say at the end and don’t be afraid to ask them!)
• Use Job Profile – keep hold of it after applying
• Keep a copy of your application form, you may need to refer to it in your interview
