Here at the Discovery Centre you can expect to find a welcoming environment that fuses together the beautiful scenery at the Lakeside with a modern and friendly establishment that is popular with both local people and visitors.
The Discovery Centre is renowned for its beautiful cafeteria overlooking the Boating Lake in one of the most enjoyable surroundings in Cleethorpes. The café opened when the visitor attraction was re-launched in June 2008 and has seen over 120,000 customers through the doors so far
The café has scored the maximum five stars for a hygiene and safety investigation following North East Lincolnshire Council’s latest round of inspections. The staff at the café pride themselves on their standards of safety and impeccable hygiene and this certificate is thanks to all their hard work and dedication.
We serve a wide range of light refreshments, delicious homemade hot and cold food, snacks and drinks using the best local produce. We use all local suppliers as we believe in encouraging and enriching the local economy. All food is freshly prepared to ensure that food is of the highest quality and taste. The café is proud advocates of supporting fair-trade, with many products including our coffee beans being fair-trade.

Dietary Requirements
We cater for all tastes, needs and dietary requirements including
- diabetics,
- celiac (gluten free),
- vegetarian and vegans.
- we also offer ‘healthy options’ for those watching their calorie intake and controlling a well balanced diet.
Our friendly staff (who have won ‘service with a smile’ awards) can help and advise on all foods, including those who suffer with nut allergies.
Loyalty Scheme
Due to the success over the last two years we wanted to reward our customers with our loyalty scheme. Customers, who purchase any five hot drinks, receive the sixth one free!
Customer Feedback
We value our customer’s opinions and feedback and take all comments very seriously to ensure we improve and provide the best possible service. We ask customers to complete a comment card indicating the satisfaction levels they experienced during their visit and express any improvements we can make to sustain the future success of the centre.
In return, every quarter one lucky winner is drawn from a hat and wins a £50 hamper and a £20 meal voucher to use at either the Discovery Centre or Fishing Heritage Centre.
