The Winter Campaign is trying to ensure that all older people in North East Lincolnshire get the maximum support possible in their local communities through any period of extreme weather conditions.
There will be a number for older people to ring if they need advice and help. The number is for emergencies; to support elderly people who may need basic essentials or medications to be delivered, or a path to their door cleared so that people can get to them.
Our message to older people is:
“Don’t go out in extreme weather, advice and help will be available”
The Winter Campaign is aiming to provide as much support as possible for older people so they do not have to risk going out in extreme weather and risk injuring themselves unnecessarily.
The Winter Campaign is also organising winter buddy volunteers as a type of friendly neighbour scheme. The idea is to get volunteers to keep an eye on and check on their older neighbours, so older and vulnerable people know there are local people looking out for them.
The launch of the Winter Campaign was held on 7th October 2011.
