Let's Waste Less!

There's no such place as 'away'

When we throw away our rubbish, where does it go? Just because it's no longer sitting on our front doorstep, doesn't mean it has disappeared. Everyone has a responsibility to think about how much rubbish they produce, and how it is being dealt with. In North East Lincolnshire we try to send as little waste to landfill as possible, but everyone can make a big difference!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

We can all do small things every day, in order to save energy, and stop using up resources.

Most importantly is to Reduce how much rubbish we make, then to Re-use products and packaging, and thirdly to send materials for Recycling where possible. For more advice on preventing waste, at home and at work,  read our Reduce Reuse Recycle page.

We promote the messages of the national campaign Love Food Hate Waste, with great ideas, recipes, competitions and tips to save you up to £50 a month on food!

If you would like to donate your pre-loved items to charity, so that others can enjoy them, find your nearest charity shop.

Parents and carers in North East Lincolnshire can claim up to £50 cashback if they are using Real Nappies. Find out about the huge cost savings, modern fabrics and designs and the council's 50/50 cashback scheme.

Recycling at home can be done in lots of ways including Home Composting. The Council subsidise the price of purchasing composting bins for residents of North East Lincolnshire.

Buying items made from recycled products will reduce the need to use new raw materials in the manufacturing process. Such items are tissues, refuse sacks, stationery, kitchen rolls and toilet roll.

You can request that junk mail stops being delivered to your door, cutting out a stream of waste.
