Young carer’s assessment
A child or young person has the right to be assessed for support when they have the responsibility of helping to care for a parent or significant adult in their lives who mental health, drug or alcohol problems, chronic illness, physical or learning disability.
We will look at the effect the problem of caring has on the child.
We will look at what difficulties they need support with and how the quality of the young carers life can be improved through the provision of services.
We will talk to the child or young person and seek their views on what they think will help them most.
At the end of the assessment we will set down an agreement with the family about what help can be offered from either Social Services or another agency and what the plan is to meet those needs.
There is a special project in North East Lincolnshire and you can contact the team on 01472 323231. Alternatively you can speak to the Young People's Support Service using the contact details on the right.
