Plot size
The average size of an allotment plot is 250 square metres (300 square yards).
Plot occupancy
Please see the document to the right of this page which shows occupation levels at all sites. The symbols indicate if the occupancy has increased, decreased or remained the same from the previous month. The Beacon Hill figures are not available as this site was handed over to the association on January 1st 2012 as a devolved managed site.
Plot charges
The basic rate for a standard plot for the 2013 calendar year is £81.13. Tenants are entitled to a plot at the reduced rate of £45.71 if they are over 60 years of age, unemployed for more than 12 months, registered as disabled or in receipt of Invalidity Benefit, or a full time student.
In addition, water is metered at each site and the charge distributed between all tenanted plots on that site. The charge is usually less than £20 per year.

Applying for a plot
You can apply for a council allotment plot by
- writing to Allotment Enquiries, Municipal Offices, Town Hall Square, Grimsby, DN31 1HU
- telephoning Allotment Enquiries
- completing the Allotments Application form to the right of this page
- access the booking system directly and check availability or reserve a plot.
We will send you information about your chosen allotment site or the one nearest to you. You can then apply for a vacant plot. If all the plots are currently occupied you can add your name to the waiting list for that site and we will contact you when one becomes available, or choose another site.
