Support Worker for older carers, Social Workers, Community Nurses and Occupational Therapists with responsibility for people with a disability (learning, physical, hearing and/or sight impairment) have their offices here.
Valuing People the Government white paper written to improve the lives of people with a learning disability also states that we must support the family carers.
In the North East Lincolnshire area the Community Resource Team supports older carers who are 65 years of age or more.
There is a growing group of carers who are contacted regularly by telephone and supported through visits.
There are a number of things that a support worker can do which include:
- Keep you informed through a regular newsletter
- Introductions to other agencies who may be of assistance to you or the person you care for.
- Support you at meetings.
- Help and support to fill in pension and benefit forms.
- Support for carers through difficult changes in circumstance.
- Support to plan the future of the person you care for.
