In Summary
The Children and Young People's Plan will meet the needs of children aged 6-11 years old by:
- increasing safety from maltreatment, neglect, violence and sexual exploitation;
- achieving stretching national educational standards at primary schools;
- increasing safety from bullying and discrimination;
- ensuring readiness for school;
- putting systems in place to monitor and evaluate the impact of the delegated SEN service are in place;
- working more closely with our colleagues, particularly in Leisure Services, to increase access to choice across a broad range of services including libraries, museums, arts development, sports developments and leisure;
- providing free, impartial information, advice, guidance and or support in respect of access to primary and junior schools;
- reduce the incidents of substance misuse;
- developing the 'Health for All' programme of health promotion information.
We will also continue to be vigilant in relation to standards of safeguarding and be ready to exploit opportunities for service enhancement.
