Achieve Economic Well-Being

Detailed below are our priority areas for 2007-10.  The 2007-8 Needs Assessment has informed the identification of these priorities and as a result of the updated needs assessment some new priority areas have been identified for the 2007-10 Plan, these are highlighted below.

 

Supporting all young people to achieve economic well-being by:

 

·        Gaining employment and/or entering into further education or training at 16 years old and beyond.

 

Other areas for development

 

·        Improving the tracking of children and young people to reduce the number of those not in education, employment or training (NEET)

·        Improving the support to help young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities prepare for adult life

·        Improving basic skills for all young people, particularly, life skills such as financial  management

·        Developing alternative education and training opportunities for young people who do not want to go into further education

·        Increase the opportunities for longer term work experience for all children and young people

·        Helping children and young people to deal with changes and transitions in their lives
