Supporting People

What is Supporting People?
Supporting People is a grant programme which enables the provision of housing related support services to help vulnerable people maintain or improve their ability to live independently. This support might include helping an older person live in their own home, helping someone coming out of homelessness to move towards having their own home, helping a woman fleeing domestic violence to resettle following a crisis situation.
The Supporting People programme funds supported housing services. It is a working partnership of local government, service users and support agencies. The grant is administered locally, on behalf of the partnership board, known as the Commissioning Body.
North East Lincolnshire Council is the "administering authority". Partners in the programme and representatives on the CB include, the Local Authority, Primary Care Trust and Probation.
It introduces a contractual framework for supported housing services which will improve support services through regular monitoring and review by one regulatory body. It will also ensure services are needs led, and targeted to client groups presently under represented.
