Street Furniture
The Council, as the Highway Authority, is responsible for providing and maintaining a range of street furniture.
Street furniture represents a highly visible component of the highway which is provided for the safety and convenience of the public. The term street furniture covers a vast array of equipment placed in, on, or over the highway for the safety and convenience of the public and includes seats, guard railing, non illuminated signs and bollards. The Council is responsible for the repair and maintenance of street furniture when this becomes necessary either due to accidental damage, vandalism or normal wear and tear.
The Council inspects all its roads and footpaths in accordance with national guidance and any damaged or missing street furniture is noted at this time and prioritised for repairs.
To report a defect on a footpath please use our online form, alternatively use the contact details to the right.
