We are looking to recruit a number of polling staff (Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks) to work the elections on Thursday 6 May 2021 from 6:30am to 10:15pm.
Minimum requirements
To undertake election duties, you must:
- be at least 18 years of age before 6 May 2021
- be entitled to work in the UK (in accordance with the provisions of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996).
Polling staff must not work on behalf of a candidate during an election campaign, nor be related to a prospective candidate.
Jobs available
We are having North East Lincolnshire Council elections in 12 Wards (all Wards except Waltham, West Marsh and Wolds). The Police and Crime Commissioner election is being held in all Wards. A combined poll – referred to below – is if your polling station has both elections. A single poll is just the Police and Crime Commissioner election.
The polling station staff (Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks) are responsible for the conduct of the ballot in each polling station. On election day polling station staff are required to work from 6:30am until about 10:15pm without leaving the polling station.
The job roles available are Presiding Officer and Poll Clerk.
Presiding Officer
Presiding Officers are responsible for the conduct of the ballot in polling stations. It is essential that they have a good knowledge of the voting procedures and have worked as a Poll Clerk on at least one previous occasion.
A Presiding Officer will be required to be able to lift ballot boxes and polling station equipment; and have the use of a car to transport them to and from the polling station.
