Door stickers have been given out to discourage cold callers from even knocking on the door this Door Step Crime Week.
North East Lincolnshire Council’s Trading Standards team have left door stickers to deter cold callers at both the Municipal Offices in Grimsby and Civic Offices in Cleethorpes, as well as in libraries.
There have also been a collection boxes at both the Municipal Offices in Grimsby and Civic Offices in Cleethorpes where concerned residents can leave leaflets they suspect to be scams. These will be looked into by Trading Standards.
Councillor Ron Shepherd, portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities, said: “It isn’t always easy to spot a rogue trader, so Trading Standards are keen to encourage everyone to feel confident to say ‘no’ to all traders calling at the door.
“These stickers will hopefully deter cold callers from knocking on your door.”
