North East Lincolnshire Trading Standards is warning people to be wary of telephone cold callers and doorstep traders offering to fit burglar alarms at their properties.
After initially offering installations at just £99 the trader then uses misleading tactics to con victims into signing up for “monitoring & guarding services”, costing thousands of pounds.
Trading standards officers are investigating complaints from residents in North East Lincolnshire region who have been targeted recently.
Burglar alarm systems within your property are highly recommended by Trading Standards as a positive crime prevention deterrent , however it is advisable to get recommendations from family and friends who have used reputable traders and are happy with the work.
