Charity partners and fun run sponsor revealed for the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k

Organisers of the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k Tape2Tape are thrilled to announce the race’s charity partners and fun run sponsor for 2018.
Seven charities will benefit from one of the area’s most popular road races, including:

RNLI
Marie Curie
When you wish upon a star
St Andrew’s Hospice
Grimsby Rotary Club
The Health Tree Foundation
Inspire TCI.

And HMT St Hugh’s Hospital have been announced as the sponsors of the 2km inclusive fun run that starts and finishes under the same race arches at the 10k event. They are excited to be sponsoring the event that was popular last year with lots of families and young children. Fun run entries open on Wednesday 16 May.

The Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k is much more than a road race with thousands of pounds raised for charity and a wealth of volunteering opportunities provided.

Almost £8,000 was donated directly to last year’s main race charity and hundreds of pounds were given to community groups who provided volunteers to help the event run smoothly.

Each charity has been given a stretch of the race to marshal and will be staffing it with their own volunteers.

A pound from every 10k race entry will be put into a pot and shared among the seven charity partners. They are also given charity places in the race.

Look out for them and lend them your support if you’re running in the fun run or main race or spectating along the route.

Some of the charities have places in the race available for people who’d like to take part and raise money. Please contact one of the charities listed if you are interested.

More than 3,100 people have already entered the 10k and you can join them for one the biggest town centre road races in the area on Sunday 22 July 2018.

Entries for the 10k race close at 2pm Wednesday 6 June – enter now at www.greatgrimsby10k.com.

The 1.2km inclusive fun run, sponsored by HMT St Hugh’s Hospital, is open to people of all ages and abilities.

Ashley Brown, Hospital Director at St Hugh’s commented:

“The Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k brings a real sense of community spirit to Grimsby, playing an important role in promoting health and activity which is of course at the core of our charitable objectives. It is always great to see some remarkable athletes competing on local roads, but for me the real value around this event is with the number of families exercising together across the generations from young to old often in their first event.”

Fun run entries open on Wednesday 16 May at www.tape2tape.co.uk People will also be able to enter on the day.

Nicola Pattison, race director from Tape2Tape, said:

“We’re delighted this great event can support so many local charities and community groups. We wanted this event to be more than just a race and with the support of so many we have achieved this. I’d also like to thank HMT St Hugh’s Hospital for sponsoring the fun run, the team at the hospital are very committed to supporting the local community. It will be a great day to bring the local community together and celebrate our town.”
