Contractors sought for house adaption work
Professional tradespeople are being sought to carry out vital works in the homes of people living with disabilities across North East Lincolnshire.
North East Lincolnshire Council is seeking contractors and subcontractors with the suitable qualifications, skills and experience to enter the tender process.
The works will be to carry out home improvements and alterations to properties across the area, which are inhabited by residents eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant.
The Grant funds a range of works and are likely to include bathroom, kitchen and living space adaptations as well as damp proofing, electrical, plumbing and heating works, and room, window, door and roof repairs.
More complex work may involve extensions, ramp fitting and major adaptations.
The bulk of the work is designed to allow people to remain living in their homes for longer, with emergency grants available to fund vital repairs.
Owner occupiers are also able to apply for what are called ‘Home Appreciation Loans’ – allowing them to improve their properties in line with the Decent Homes Standard.
Councillor John Fenty, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Skills and Housing at North East Lincolnshire Council said: “We employ a number of contractors to fulfil works around our borough.
This is a great opportunity for local businesses and tradespeople to tender for inclusion onto the framework to be able to bid for this type of work in the future.
“The Council is committed to achieving social value through contracts and encourage businesses that also have a focus on social value to apply.
“If businesses wanting to apply are finding the tender process difficult, we are more than happy to help businesses by walking them through the application process. Get in touch with our officers for more information.
The tender can be found on North East Lincolnshire Council’s Procurement Portal YORtender www.yortender.co.uk under the reference DN459362.
