North East Lincolnshire Council

Daily air quality

The Council continuously monitors concentrations of the main pollutants – nitrogen dioxide and fine inhalable particles (PM10 particulates). This information is updated daily (Monday to Friday).

This air quality index and banding system is used throughout the UK. This system has been approved by the Committee on Medical Effects of Air Pollution Episodes (COMEAP).

Data is taken from 3 monitoring stations (1 located in Immingham and 2 in Grimsby).

Banding Index Health Issues
Low 1, 2 or 3 Effects are unlikely to be noticed even by individuals who are sensitive to air pollutants.
Moderate 4, 5, or 6 Mild effects may be noticed amongst sensitive individuals.
High 7, 8 or 9 Significant effects may be noticed by sensitive individuals & action to avoid or reduce these effects may be needed (e.g. reducing exposure by spending less time in polluted areas outdoors).
