The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 enables local authorities to control pollution from certain types of industry (such as coal handlers, bulk cement & petrol filling stations) through applying for a permit.
These permits consist of specific conditions that the operators have to adhere to. Inspections are carried out at the installations to ensure that the permit conditions are not in breach. Processes are divided into 3 categories:
- Part A1 processes: regulated by the Environment Agency (EA)
- Part A2 processes: regulated by NELC
- Part B processes: regulated by NELC
At the present time we regulate 65 installations across North East Lincolnshire:
- 4 Part A2 processes
- 61 Part B processes
The details of all processes regulated by us are held on a Public Register.
For further guidance on whether your installation requires a permit, please see the DEFRA Guidance.
