Exciting Fisher King Exhibition to launch at Grimsby Top Town Market

A new free art exhibition is opening on Grimsby Top Town Market on Tuesday 2 April.

The exhibition focuses on the story of the Fisher King and has been created by renowned Canadian artist Ian Kirkpatrick.

This is the second exhibition from Ian Kirkpatrick in Grimsby following a popular exhibition last year attended by hundreds of local people.

His latest exhibition is using his innovative method of paper sculptures to create compelling 3D art exhibitions.

Artist, Ian Kirkpatrick, commented on his second exhibition on the market, “I’m incredibly pleased to be returning to Grimsby Top Town Market – this time to present a new sculpture. The new piece is created from consumer packaging materials and draws on the story of the Fisher King from Arthurian legend, referencing Grimsby’s history as a fishing port and the current role as a packaging town.

“We’ve provided an opportunity for the community to get involved, create their own fish to add to the installation and help tell their stories about Grimsby and their hopes for the future.”

Your chance to get involved!

On Saturday 6 April, from 10am to 3pm, Ian will be holding a free workshop for your chance to make your own 3d fish sculptures to join the main exhibition on the Market.

The Fisher King exhibition is part of Art in the Market, a project in partnership with Our Big Pictures and Arts Council England.

Grimsby Top Town Market is managed by North East Lincolnshire Council’s regeneration partner, ENGIE.
