Family fun and more at the fourth Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K
With less than a month before the fourth Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K, people are racing to grab their tickets to take part in the race.
The 2019 Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K takes place on Sunday 21 July 2019 and starts at 10am outside Grimsby Town Hall.
The cost is low at just £17 or £15 for affiliated running club members which is why entries are filling up fast so anyone who would like to run is encouraged to sign up at Great Grimsby 10k quickly.
Runners receive a unique t-shirt and medal, exclusive to the race with a design based on Grimsby’s fishing heritage.
Whether you are a runner or a supporter, you can join in the festivities at the Finish Line Festival in People’s Park where the race ends.
At this fun free family event you can check out the Humber Taiko drummers, a climbing wall, a children’s High-intensity Interval Training (HIIT) organised by Walkers Total Fitness and more.
There’s also lots of food and drink to enjoy on the lawn as you watch the runners cross the line.
This year’s race is the ‘greenest ever’ as organisers Tape2Tape are having paper free race information, encouraging car sharing and cycling and reducing the use of plastic bottles.
Headline sponsor Ørsted are encouraging parents and young people to think about climate change by sparking the imaginations of children with their Wonderful World Adventure Trail in People’s Park.
Children who complete the trail receive a book produced by Ørsted called Is This My Home? which follows a little girl and her mouse friend as they travel the globe.
Hundreds of volunteering opportunities are also created for local people making the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K much more than a race. Volunteers can sign up at www.tape2tape.co.uk/volunteer.
The Finish Line Festival is a fitting end to Love Parks Week, Keep Britain Tidy’s national campaign to celebrate parks and encourage people to enjoy their local park.
Parks play a central role in our communities and our wellbeing and making use of parks helps protect them for future generations.
