Empty property and derelict land

Empty Homes

Empty Homes blight neighbourhoods, attract fly tipping and anti-social behaviour. The Empty Property team work with owners of empty homes to find solutions to help bring them back into use.

Empty properties deteriorate, loss of income through loss of earnings whilst the property is empty, council tax liability. According to the Empty Homes Agency – an empty property can lose thousands of pounds per year.

To let us know about an empty property complete our Empty Homes Notification Form.

How can we help you bring a property back into use?

We provide advice to owners of empty property to overcome the hurdles, preventing owners bringing empty property back into use.

We can offer loans and grants schemes to help fund (or contribute towards) refurbishing an empty property.  The schemes are dependent on funding from the Council. We recommend you call us to find out more.

We can even help to find a buyer for the property.

Empty Homes are liable for Council Tax. In addition, properties left empty over 2 years can be liable for an additional 50% council tax. Find out more in our Council tax.

We often receive enquiries from investors, who could be interested in your site. Our advisors can provide a signposting service to help you find a solution to help bring the site back into use.

We can also offer advice to find a temporary security solution to protect your site from further vandalism, where possible.
