Kittens found dumped in bin on A180

Four kittens have been discovered by one of North East Lincolnshire Council’s bin crews as they emptied bins along the A180 layby.

The crew were alerted to the situation after hearing lots of loud squeaks and noises coming from one of the bins this morning (Thursday 28 May) at around 10am.

The kittens, believed to be no more than 24-hours-old, were found inside a plastic carrier bag inside one of the bins near to the A160 Killingholme turn-off.

They were collected by Cuddles Cat Rescue, based in Wilton Road, shortly after the bin crew making the call.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “This is just another example of the work our bin crews and street cleansing teams do.

“They’ve made many weird and wonderful finds over the years, but to find four kittens had been dumped in a bin is a very sad thought.

“The kittens are now at a local cat rescue receiving much-needed care.”
