In just three years the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k entry limit has grown from 1,500 in 2016 to 3,000 in 2017 to a whopping 5,000 this year.
Last year’s race saw almost 3,000 people aged from 15 to 83 cheered on as they ran or jogged the 10km route from the town centre towards Scartho and back to People’s Park.
There’s also a 2km inclusive fun run that’s open to people of all ages and finishes under the main race arch in People’s Park.
The Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k is much more than a road race with thousands of pounds raised for charity and a wealth of volunteering opportunities.
Almost £8,000 was donated directly to last year’s main race charity and hundreds of pounds were given to community groups who provided volunteers to help the event run smoothly.
Race director Nicola Pattison, from Tape2Tape, said:
“There’s not long left to secure your place in the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k.
“Entries close on Wednesday 6 June for one of the flattest, fastest and friendliest road races in the area.
“We’ve made a number of changes to up the entry limit to 5,000 and we can’t wait to see everyone on the start line on 22 July.”
Emma Toulson, Lead Stakeholder Advisor for Ørsted UK, said:
“It’s great to see so many already signed up for what will be a fantastic day. We’re so pleased to support this event and see it growing year on year.”
