Under the licensing act 2003, North East Lincolnshire Council, as the licensing authority, is responsible for alcohol licensing as well as regulated entertainment and late night refreshment (sale of hot food or drink after 11pm).
As the licensing authority, our activities are governed by the promotion of the four licensing objectives:
- The prevention of crime and disorder
- The prevention of public nuisance
- Public safety
- The protection of children from harm
The main policy introduces 3 cumulative impact zones in North East Lincolnshire:
Zone 1 – Grimsby Town Centre
Zone 2 – Freeman Street / East Marsh
Zone 3 – Cleethorpes Town Centre
We will refuse any new applications for relevant authorisations or any variation of these in the cumulative impact zones; unless the applicant can demonstrate there will be no negative cumulative impact on one or more of the licensing objectives. Full details are set out in section 10 of the policy document available in the related documents section of this page.
