North East Lincolnshire Council & NHS North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group Appoint Joint Chief Executive
North East Lincolnshire Council & NHS North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group are once again leading the country in how health and social care are commissioned.
In the face of increasing demand and decreasing funding, both organisations recently took decisions to enhance the existing Partnership arrangements which have been successfully delivering a range of benefits and innovations across Health, Adult Social Care, Public Health and Children’s Services since 2007.
A significant milestone within that Partnership development has now been reached with the appointment of a Joint Chief Executive. From 1st August 2017, the Council’s Chief Executive, Rob Walsh will take on the new role; heading up a single leadership team which will service both statutory organisations and strengthen their ability to deliver the best possible outcomes for the community they serve.
Commenting on this significant appointment the Leader of the Council, Cllr Ray Oxby said:-
The Council recognised many years ago that meaningful partnership with the CCG was the way to break down organisational boundaries and re-organise services around the community and their needs. NELC and NEL CCG are the two largest public sector ‘spenders’ in North East Lincolnshire; coming even closer together gives us the opportunity to maximise the value and impact of our combined resources and allow us to have a joint strategy to secure the best interventions for economic, community and well-being benefit for the local population. Rob’s appointment as a Joint Chief Executive across both organisations is a signal that both the Council and the CCG remain 100% committed to driving forward this agenda and I am confident that he will bring the kind of positive leadership which will help us achieve this.
Commenting on this groundbreaking appointment Mark Webb, Chair of NHS North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group Governing Body said:-
NEL CCG has a history of taking bold decisions and shaping its arrangements to best meet the needs of our community. It is clear to us that the challenges facing the public sector across the health and care environment are significant and require us to think differently about how we respond to growing service demand within shrinking resource. We are determined to shape a positive way forward; whilst the 2 statutory organisations will remain, coming closer together with the Council enables us to plan together, combine our people and resources and ultimately deliver more efficient, effective, joined up services for our population. Rob’s appointment as a Joint Chief Executive is one of the first of its kind in the country; it is a significant challenge but we are confident that he has the skills and attributes to work across the two organisations and the ability to create the right environment for these new arrangements to thrive.
