Business Travel Plans

A Business Travel Plan is an in-depth assessment of a business’s travel patterns and travel needs. The purpose of the plan is to develop a package of measures which promote encourage and enable more sustainable travel choices, and reduce reliance on single occupant car journeys for travel to, from and during work.

How can a Travel Plan Benefit a Business?

  • Enhance recruitment and reduce staff turnover
  • Improve your corporate social responsibility, reduce your company’s carbon footprint
  • Reduce operational costs including the provision and maintenance of parking spaces and mileage claims
  • Reduce absenteeism. Staff who walk to work tend to be fitter, healthier and more productive
  • Attract more customers by making your site more accessible for those who do not have a car or can’t use a car
  • Relieve parking problems and reduce the need for and cost of extra parking provisions
  • Ensure parking for those in most need of a vehicle
  • Reduce the cost of travel
  • Provide the opportunity to build healthy exercise into daily life
  • Reduce the average time of the commute
  • Build stronger relationships with fellow staff through car share initiatives
  • Reduced carbon footprint

  • Raise awareness of the consequences of travel choices and highlight the benefits of choosing suitable alternatives
  • Minimise the impact of travel on the environment, improve the local air quality and reduce harmful emissions

Sustainable Travel Grant

After completion your organisations Travel Plan, there will be an opportunity to bid for sustainable travel grant funding of up to £5000 to be used towards the costs of implementing your travel plan until March 2020.

The Sustainable Travel Grant could be used to support:

  • The installation of cycle racks and safe cycle storage
  • The installation of electric car charging points
  • Public transport taster tickets
  • The purchasing of pool bikes
  • Modified car sharing car parking spaces
  • Laptop/ computer devices to support agile and home working
  • Events to raise the awareness of sustainable transport
  • Travel related employee training/taster days e.g. cycling awareness courses
  • Any other scheme that encourages sustainable travel in North East Lincolnshire
