Fishing Heritage Centre
Bulletin Board
Please be aware: Works to Ross Tiger will begin on Monday 5 September 2022. The ship will be closed for a number of weeks. Updates will be provided.
When the early railways connected Great Grimsby to London’s famous fish markets in 1848, the town began an astonishing development into the World’s Premier Fishing Port! Fresh fish was now available nationwide and a national dish of Fish and Chips became possible.
Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre is a multi-award winning attraction which will transport you back in time to the 1950’s heyday of this famous port. Carefully crafted sets and original preserved trawler interiors capture the atmosphere and essence of a remarkable way of life in one of the most dangerous occupations in living memory.
You will experience this twentieth century saga by signing on as a crew member and travelling in their footsteps – leaving your 1950’s Grimsby home for a trip to the perilous Arctic fishing grounds and returning home to the comfort of the Freeman’s Arms public house!
Don’t miss the opportunity to tour the magnificent M.F.V. ROSS TIGER – the earliest diesel engine side trawler preserved in the UK! The ship is preserved in a permanent mooring outside of the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. Tours offer a unique opportunity to see first-hand what it was like to be aboard a trawler in what is often described as Britain’s most dangerous job.
The sights, sounds, smells and drama will leave you with a whole new respect for the men who, for centuries, have pitted their strength against the elements to bring home their catch.
This Arts Council accredited museum is a five times winner of the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and a member of the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame. It is also a winner of the Sandford Award to Heritage Education and holds the Visit England Quality Rose Marque.

Lazer Adventure
Bulletin Board
Lazer Adventure is a futuristic challenging game based within the top two floors of our entertainment centre at Fairworld. It is a cool interactive combat gaming experience taking lazer adventure to the next level. Your laser cannon fires harmless infra red beams (like your TV remote does). Which register scores on the packs of your opponents when you hit them. There's no physical contact or impact involved whatsoever so it's all just fun.
Kinda like in an indoor play centre you can swing on ropes, scramble through ball lagoons and over cargo nets, plus slide down a huge drain pipe to a whole new level! With pumping music, flashing lights and swirling fog this is the ideal laser tag arena for those who usually find the lack of physical activity in such games frustrating! One is usually bound by no climb and no run rules, so this is refreshingly active war zone!
Booking is required so call ahead!
Pricing From £3.00 per person

Youth Action
Bulletin Board
Youth Action Giving young people a voice and a role in making a difference in the community.
Youth Action is the local youth council for young people aged 13 to 21, where all members are voluntary. The group works on a number of projects which includes the annual consultation of young people’s priority issues – Your Voice, Your Vote (this year tackling feeling safe on our streets and mental health).
Regular once monthly meetings take place at Grimsby Town Hall, with guests such as senior council managers and councillors attending, to share important discussions about topical issues for young people in our local area.
During each of the meetings we bring a number of opportunities that young people may be interested in taking part in which include national advisory groups, regional projects or local opportunities. So young people can get involved in making a difference and representing young people locally regionally and nationally. You will build skills and experience such as organisational skills, communication and problem solving which are great for your portfolio’s and CV’s as many of the skills are needed for any job.
Youth Action is now looking to recruit new members to join the council and to contribute to meaningful issues in North East Lincolnshire. This is also a wonderful opportunity to build skills and experience for portfolio’s and CV’s, needed for jobs in the future.
Interested? For more information about the group or to join contact Pippa at [email protected].

S E N D Local Offer - Things To Do - Jobs, Careers And Training For Young People
Bulletin Board
Not sure where to start? Young People’s Support Services (YPSS) supports young people mainly across academic years 11, 12 and 13, and can offer guidance up to age 25 if a young person has additional needs and/or is care experienced.
Come chat to our team of Careers Advisors and NEET Practitioners about:
Careers Further Education Training Employment
During Year 10 YPSS organise a large event every year for year 10 students called the Skills Fair. This is usually at the beginning of July at Grimsby Auditorium and most of the area’s secondary schools/academies come along. The event is the region’s largest education, training and careers event and boasts an array of exhibitors including colleges, sixth forms, universities, employers and training providers both locally and nationally.
Please speak to your school if you have any questions about the event or if you are not attending school please get in touch with YPSS.
During Year 11 Schools/academies are responsible for arranging independent and impartial careers guidance for their students, however YPSS will see some students in year 11 depending on individual circumstances – for example, students with an Education Health Care Plan, students who are looked after by the local authority and/or students with a social worker, or young people who are not educated at a school.
If you have not met your Careers Adviser in school (by the end of the Easter break) or are worried about your next steps, please contact YPSS. We can chat to you in a variety of ways, including face-to-face chats, home visits, telephone calls or through Microsoft teams.
Careers Advisers can offer:
Specialist one-to-one careers interventions to discuss post-16 options and routes into specific career paths or vocational areas. Support with applying for post-16 provision, for example, college or apprenticeships. Help with looking through the Lincs2 website to see what provision is available. Help with arranging visits to local colleges/providers and contacting these on your behalf should you have any questions/queries. Help with choosing alternatives should things not go according to plan (e.g. GCSE results). Support with enrolment at college if required. DID YOU KNOW…All YPSS’ Careers Advisers are level 6 qualified, and the service holds the Matrix standard for quality careers intervention
Young people over school leaving age Making important decisions about the future can be difficult. If plans have not worked out it can be hard to think about what other options might be available or where to find support. This is where YPSS’ NEET Practitioners can help.
NEET Practitioners can offer:
One-to-one support (over a period of time) to help overcome any problems that are preventing accessing work, learning or training. Information, advice and guidance on college courses, training, job opportunities and how to access these. Support with how to apply for jobs (application forms, preparing a CV, covering letters, interview skills/techniques). Support with attending interviews with post 16 providers if required. If you would like to find out more about how we can help you, you can either pop into the Molson Centre, call 01472 326294 – choosing option 1 or email [email protected].
