New recycling bins

New recycling bins which will replace the recycling boxes are being delivered to households from 27 July. Deliveries are happening round by round and will finish in late Autumn.

Check your scheduled bin delivery date by searching your postcode and house number on the bin collection schedule page.

Some new build homes and houses with no front garden will not appear on the calendar. If you have a new build property then your bin will be delivered when our crews get to your area. If your property does not have a front garden then we will be in touch to let you know what is happening soon.

If you want to know the latest about the new recycling bins you can read updates in our news section.

How to use the new recycling bins

You should clearly label the bins with your property number and start using them straight away. You will receive an information booklet with your new bins. You can also download a copy of the Recycling bins leaflet (PDF, 875KB)

On the day of your normal recycling collection, put the new recycling bins outside your property or at the agreed collection point before 7am instead of your recycling boxes. Once your recycling bins have been emptied you must take them back into the boundary of your property.

Assisted collections will continue as normal with the new bins. If you are blind or visually impaired we can arrange for a different bin lid to be fitted with identifies which bin is which. Please call us on 01472 326288 to arrange this.

2021 collections

Collection dates are likely to change in the New Year. We will contact you nearer the time to let you know of any changes.

There are no changes to your collections for household waste or your garden waste.

Bin size

The new recycling bins are the same size as your green bin for household waste. Each bin is 58cm wide by 70cm deep by 104cm high and is 240 litres in volume. Three bins together are 174cm wide by 70cm deep by 104cm in height.

We have chosen an option that works for most households and our collection crews. When we consulted on recycling in 2019, the two recycling bin option had the highest number of people who said they strongly support it. The overall size of a 240 litre and a 180 litre bin is very similar, so a smaller bin would not make a lot of difference.

Recycling boxes

You can keep your recycling boxes to use at home. Any unwanted boxes should be emptied and left out on your first collection day with your new recycling bins for bin crews to take away, or you can return them to a Recycling Centre (the tip).
