Parents and carers
Information and guidance for parents and carers
Parents and carers are so valuable in a child’s speech and communication journey, as you often know what they need before anyone else.
It’s okay to have concerns, and we know it can be hard knowing where to start. This section has been developed for families to help with understanding what to look out for, where to get support and simple ways you can help your child at home.
If you are worried about your child, let’s T.A.L.K. work through some helpful steps.

KEEP GOING

Ages and stages
Though children and young people develop their speech, language and communication skills at different rates, it can be useful to understand what is typical for that age bracket. This often helps identify speech and language problems earlier on.
There are also lots of resources and links available to help support your child’s development, tailored to their specific age group.
