Northern Powergrid (NPG) will be on site in Cleethorpes from next week to undertake utility diversions as part of the Sea Road building scheme.

The mains cable needs to be moved from its current location, which runs through the site, into the pathway so that future maintenance can be safeguarded. It also needs joining into the new substation that’s located at Dolphin Gardens.

Work will start on site on Monday 7 October for approximately three weeks.

The pathway on the Pier Gardens side of Sea Road, past the hoardings will need to be closed off for the duration of the works. A diversion will be put in place across Sea Road.

Traffic will also be under lane closures and traffic lights for the duration of the works, including traffic lights on the pedestrian crossing outside the Dolphin.

The bus stops on Sea Road will be suspended during the works, with buses using the stops on Alexandra Road instead.

Businesses in the area have been informed about the roadworks, which are necessary for the building.

Cllr Stewart Swinburn, Cabinet member for Highways, said: “We’ve been liaising with NPG to get this done as soon as we can, whilst not affecting the summer season. We’re sorry for the disruption this will cause, but it’s the last set of utility works needed before we can start on site.”
