Contractors, Geotechnics Ltd, will be on site in Pier Gardens from Monday 28 October for approximately a week to do site surveys ahead of the gardens’ transformation coming next year.
As reported, the scheme for Pier Gardens is supported by £18.4m, which was awarded to Cleethorpes from the then Government’s Levelling Up Fund, (LUF).
Thanks to input from local people, the new designs for the gardens, created by leading landscape architects, WSP, will support more modern and wildlife friendly planting schemes, along with areas for children’s and adults’ social activities, an area designed specifically for the skateboarding community, and an area specifically designed for more contemplative activities.
The geotechnical works next week will involve rotary core drilling to check for ground conditions in various areas, and also digging inspection pits to check where utility pipes are located throughout the gardens.
The results from this will inform the tender for the contract to deliver and create the new gardens, which is due to be released in the coming months.
The survey works will be done in the daytime, between approximately 9am and 4pm, with large machinery on site. Whilst the works are being done, the contractors will cordon off specific areas to maintain safety for both public and the works.
