North East Lincolnshire Council’s Women’s Network is hosting its first ever public event – a free ‘Women’s Health Matters’ talk.
Delivered by local expert, Dr. Sreekala Seepana, from SLC Medical Group, this friendly and welcoming session is open to people of all ages. Whether you want to learn something new or build confidence around women’s health, everyone is encouraged to attend.
The talk will cover how to understand women’s bodies, recognising key signs and symptoms, how to speak up and get the support you need, and advice around the menstrual cycle, perimenopause and menopause.
The event will take place on Friday 5 June, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, in the Assembly Room at Grimsby Town Hall.
The event is free, but people are asked to book a ticket so organisers know how many to expect. Sign up for your spot on Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/womens-health-matters-2026-tickets-1987688337324.
Women experience different health challenges throughout their lives, but getting the right help is not always easy. Figures at both a local and national level show the importance of raising awareness and supporting women in advocating for themselves:
- It can take 7 to 9 years on average for conditions like endometriosis to be diagnosed
- Many women need to visit their GP 10 to 15 times before being referred to a specialist
- Only around 1 in 3 women (37%) who speak to a GP about menopause symptoms are prescribed HRT
- Some women wait over five years to get the treatment they need
These figures show that many people face delays or challenges when seeking care. Events like this aim to make a difference by helping people better understand their health and how to access support.
