Ahead of works to improve the Toll Bar junction later this year, engineers are continuing to work closely with utilities companies to identify what infrastructure is under the road surface.
As part of this work a series of additional trial holes are required to be dug in the footway and verge at various places near the junction to identify any additional underground utility equipment as part of the ongoing detailed design work.
Carrying out these works ahead of starting on site will reduce the risk of finding unexpected utility pipelines once works start which could create delays during the project as additional works take place to make them safe and divert them.
These works will start on Wednesday 10 June between 8am and 5pm and are expected to take three days to complete.
To limit the impact of the works, but ensure the safety of the workforce, localised traffic management (cones and barriers) will be used. There will be no temporary traffic lights or road closures in place to complete this work.
The works will be managed and overseen by ENGIE, with local contractor Southam Services completing the works.
As previously reported the £2m roundabout and approach road works, funded by the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, are still expected to start in July and take five months to complete, but the council is keeping this under review in light of ongoing government guidance and availability of supplies and resources. The roundabout will be maintained but the entries to the roundabout will be widened to support the additional traffic expected from the nearby housing development.
